my spanish sucks now

Because I may not be able to go home this March (hopefully will be able to do so in April because I miss the sun!), I'm thinking of going away to Spain for a couple of days over my two-week leave from week. I'd spend most of it there, but I'm not swimming in money, so maybe just four days.

The thing is, I don't know where to start! There's the Schengen visa, which I heard I have to have proof like a booked hotel to show that I'm not going there and not leave (heh). I heard I can go to a travel agency so they can take care of that for me, but I can't find any! Also, I don't know how I'll be getting around the city because it's going to be completely foreign, and I don't want to lose all the precious little time being lost (in a bad way) and not seeing the places I want to see!

So any recommendations on how to go about this? I'm thinking about Barcelona, somewhere in Andalucia or Madrid, because I have a friend who's in Madrid. I don't know how much time he'll have for me once I get there though. =\

But yes. Advice first, please? :D

It's so sunny today in London with clear blue skies that I can't help but think of the Mediterranean. I am so going to see Greece next. Or Italy. I love the sun, okay?

So much pretty.

Some behind the scenes clips from the upcoming television show Camelot. No, I'm not terribly excited to see it.

In other stuff, I am seriously hating my ward manager (not that I've liked her even before). I'm trying to book my annual leave for four weeks so I could go home to my country. I live miles and miles away from England; it's not like a quick London-to-Wales/Scotland/Ireland kind of trip. And she wouldn't let me have the last two weeks because it's for the next fiscal year and we still can't make requests, blahblahblah...

LADY, I NEED TO BOOK A FLIGHT TO THE PHILIPPINES, OKAY?! I am so close to reporting this as bullying to HR, but I'm honestly afraid that they'll make my life all the more harder back in the ward (it's hard enough as it is).

If not, I may just head to Barcelona, and hopefully I can get my four weeks April-May. But even that's not sure because if I just had an annual leave on March, I don't know if she'd let me have another long one in April. GAAHHH I HATE HER.

sniff sniff

If anyone still manages to read this entry, WOW. I'd have defriended myself by now! Actually, is anyone still on LJ?

Anyhow, just had to post my SQUEE! somewhere over finally seeing pictures of Starz' Camelot series, showing April 2011. If you have no idea about Starz, they brought us Spartacus and Pillars of the Earth, which I have both yet to see. Spartacus I have the first season downloaded ages ago, but never found the time to watch wth.

So I love BBC's Merlin (which is full of hot) but I can't wait for this because 1) I love me some Arthurian, and 2) it has Jamie Campbell Bower (Arthur), Tamsin Egerton (Guinevere) and Joseph Fiennes (Merlin). JCB and Joseph Fiennes are hot, and I've always had a soft spot for Tamsin Egerton ever since I saw her in Mists of Avalon as young Guinevere. It's a different spin from BBC's version as this is more darker. For instance, Merlin doesn't look at all nice (morally speaking). Oh, and did I mention they also have Eva Green as Morgan le Fay and Claire Forlani as Igraine?

On a different note, I am experiencing my first ever winter and I am not liking it at all. I never even wanted it to come (unlike some people who were all CANTWAITTOSEESNOWOMG!!!!) because I get sick easily. Ever since the temperature started dropping in November, I've been sick with the sniffles/flu TWICE (and had called in sick twice; they're going to hate me) and winter has just started. :(

NARNIA!

Oh. My. God. How did things get to this, being terribly behind on Narnia-related news?? I just saw the trailer and boy, am I EXCITED! I love those Pevensies, and seeing Skandar and Georgie all grown up (Skandar's deep voice! And Georgie looks so pretty!)...and what's with that last clip with all four of them walking towards something? I miss those kids. I still feel terrible about how the story goes with Susan losing her way. :(

Now, my not-so-immediate-problem is -- who will I watch this with? honest_illusion isn't a call away now...well, she is, but it'll be expensive and we can't really go and see it together. ;)

Speaking of which, when is Merlin coming back? And I read there's going to be a ten-part series called Camelot where Tamsin Egerton will be playing Guinevere. I remember her playing young Guinevere in Mists of Avalon.

I really, really, really I get done with all these requirements so I can go back to being a fangirl. And RPing.

Totally random, but UK is totally making me gain weight. I don't know if it's because I'm not sweating at all, or because I'm terrible with what I eat.

guess who got internet?!

YEP MEEEEEEE. And I love how quick it is! ♥♥♥ I don't have much chance to be online often though, because I'm still settling with the new everything. Back home (okay, you have license to call me a spoiled brat after reading this) I didn't do any bathroom cleaning or cooking or washing dishes and clothes, but now I have to do all of it PLUS getting acquainted with the new job, how they do things and stuff. And I need to be working on my PIN so I can be a registered nurse, and it's a whole lot of work.

Getting that PIN is just very stressing; I'm getting anxious just thinking about it. And to add to that, we've been here for only two weeks, and I'm having guy issues already. I don't really understand how the heck someone starts liking another person that they've only met two weeks ago. Attracted maybe, but not to the point of pursuing...? Arthur in my icon says it all, because all that isn't really in my immediate agenda.

Speaking of Arthur -- when is the third season of Merlin starting? I miss all the magic~ and enchantment~~ heeheeheeeeee.

uhhh

Fourth day in Northwest London. I look like shit. Still getting lost over bus stops, no idea about train routes and...yeah.

Also, there's no internet; I'm currently just borrowing from someone and it's really slow. Can't complain though, at least I got something. But I'm just a little pissed because I can't watch any tennis, while back home I get to watch a lot! Bleeehhh. No World Cup matches either, and I want to watch the Portugal-Brazil and Chile-Spain matches tomorrow. I wonder if someone would go with me to the free-to-watch pubs? I don't think any of us, even the guys, have entered a pub. Not yet, anyway.

So, yeah. Anyone living nearby? :D

YAY!

I've barely been able to make time online due to offline stuff (physical therapy, meeting with people, papers, getting a wrist strain) and because of Roland Garros, which ended today on a very positive note! If you're a Rafa Nadal fan, that is -- back with the Coupe des Mousquetaires and being world number one! Honestly, I'd still be happy even if he remained number two; I just wanted him to win back the Roland Garros title!

That said, we're off to grass next! I wish grass had a longer part in the season. There's too many hard courts, I'm finding it a little...bleh, for a lack of a better term. There's just a lack of variety. The season starts with a hard court, then they cram the clay tournaments together, rush off to grass all in a span of two months? No, I'm not counting the South American clay court tournaments. And then we're back to hard courts. Bleh.

I'm still waiting for my visa. I don't know how long it takes for a visa to get approved because my friend got hers in 3-5 days while it's been more than a week for mine. Although I'm guessing they look at when you plan to leave, and my friend applied for hers just a little more than a week before her flight date, while I had three full weeks when I applied for mine.

I just wish it would come soon though, so I'll know if I should start thinking of what to pack and stuff like that.

Speaking of, we're buying a new laptop, and my dad's making me choose between a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 and a Thinkpad T410s. I don't see much difference save for the size and the weight. The X201 is a 12-incher while the T410s has a 14-inch screen, so obviously the latter is heavier. I'm just not sure because I've always used a 14-inch laptop, whether it's mine, my sister's or my mom's or even somebody else's, and I'm just afraid the 12-inch screen would look too small for me.

What would you prefer?

hey!

Been a bit busy. Two weeks ago I had a two-day retreat which was awesome, then had a stomach virus that sidelined me for a couple days since all I did was live in the bathroom, then trying to get ready for an exam.

Key word is trying because I keep meaning to study but I never do. :( And it didn't help that Roland Garros is underway, so I spend most of my time in front of the TV and the laptop, because the local cable channel coverage seem to think the only good matches are in Chatrier (Lenglen has way better matches!).

And I've missed a ton of movies! I haven't seen the stuff I've meant to see -- Clash of the Titans, Iron Man 2, Robin Hood, and now we've got Prince of Persia and I can't go see it because of the exam. Maybe next week. And speaking of which, where is that interview where Jake Gyllenhaal said he kind of based/was inspired by Rafael Nadal when it came to bulking up his body?

Exam later today. It's just an international English exam, but I need a really good/high score and I've always had problems with writing and the speaking part usually depends on who you're talking to (Filipinos usually grade low, for some reason).

Ooh, also -- does anyone have a recommendation for a good point-and-shoot camera? Nothing terribly expensive, and I don't need the DSLRs; just something that's easy to carry around in your bag.

don't mind me I'm just flailing

OMG Criminal Minds 5x09. What was that. WHAT. WAS. THAT.

That was frellin' brilliant episode, that's what. That scene with Hotch and Haley on the phone...I don't have much love for Meredith Monroe, but that nearly made me cry. And oh, Jack. He's the cutest. He's just adorable.

I also loved how Reid was just angry (fuming?) at Strauss but was still oh-so-polite. Oh, oh, and when they made him repeat part of the phone call verbatim like he's a machine and he just rattles it off! LOLOL.

Aaaand now I'm going to watch some more. I still have 10 episodes left (11 if I count the one coming tomorrow)!
